Pedestrian Club walk 2 of the day
Great turn out for a cold/rainy evening! We changed the route to stay off Vermilion in the rain, and took a loop around Spring Hill Cemetery instead. One of my favorite places to run, but I don’t often get in there at night.

Pedestrian Club’s first morning walk!
We took a couple trips around Lincoln Park, and met some new people.
See you all this evening at the American Legion for Walk #2 of the day!

@hunter and I did 4 easy miles yesterday afternoon, took a stop in Chart Records, and saw one smashed garage.

“Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.” — Abraham Lincoln
It’s debated whether he actually said that or not, but since I read this a few days ago I’ve been thinking about how Lincoln must have returned to this phrase (or similar words) countless times during his Presidency. He planted his feet in a spot that few dared to stand, and was bombarded with plenty of good reasons to concede his position, but he had decided when he stood in that spot that he would not budge. In the face of violence, deep cutting words, hatred, and death, he refused to relent. The only way to move was forward. That’s conviction. That’s how we accomplish the impossible. That’s how we change the world.

At 211 degrees, water is hot.
At 212 degrees, it boils.
And with boiling water, comes steam.
And with steam, you can power a train.
Applying one extra degree of temperature to water means the difference between something that is simply very hot and something that generates enough force to power a machine - a beautifully uncomplicated metaphor that ideally should feed our every endeavor - consistently pushing us to make the extra effort in every task, action and effort we undertake.

Be willing to cut anything out of your life that doesn’t produce excellence
I skipped my morning run today in favor of a fee more hours of sleep. The middle of my day absolutely sucked, so I knew I needed to get out there this afternoon to get my mind right. It was cold, windy, and rainy. It wasn’t fun, but it was worth it. It’s never not worth it. 10 miles flipped my mood on its head.
